The International School of Kenya (ISK) was started in 1976 through a partnership with the governments of the United States and Canada. Nestled in a 40-acre piece of land at Kirawa Road, off Peponi Road, it is a private, nonprofit coeducational institution offering quality education for Elementary, Middle School, and High School stages. ISK offers day educational needs to both expatriate and East African students. The school is well-equipped and it offers the broadly based curricula of the American College Prep and International Baccalaureate Diploma alongside other exceptional extracurriculars. The school, in 2003, was ranked 7th out of the top 100 best high schools in Africa by Africa Almanac as a result of its outstanding quality of education, student engagement, strength and activities of alumni, school profile, internet, and news visibility. The International School of Kenya is dually accredited by the Council of International Schools (CIS) and the Middle Schools Association of Schools and Colleges (MSA). It is also a member of the Association of International Schools in Africa (AISA), The Council of International Schools, and Round Square
