Kenton College Preparatory School is one of the oldest international schools in Kenya tracing its history back to 1924. It began as an all-boys boarding school but changed to a co-ed school in 1992. Throughout its existence, Kenton school changed its location from Kijabe Hill overlooking Mt. Longonot and Lake Naivasha, where it began, to Gichugu Road, Lavington, Nairobi where it currently sits. Most of the students are from British families but there are local students and others from outside Kenya. It offers an Adapted or School-Developed Curriculum at the Primary Level and Common Entrance Exam education system based on the UK curriculum. The school is a member of the IAPS and is inspected by the Schools Inspection Service (SIS) for British Schools Overseas (BSO).
